Great news from Germany!!! It seems that the Lürssen yard signed a contract for a 150m yacht! The Schichau Seebeck Shipyard GmbH located in Bremerhaven will build a 150m casco for Lürssen during the next year which will be finished at their own facilities in Bremen. According to them it will be a passenger ship but they are not allowed to give any information about the ship nor the client. This seems strange for a passenger ship as it would be stupid not to promote it. Normally there is plenty of information available as soon as a contract for a pessenger ship is signed! Also, Lürssen didnt built that many passenger ships in the past! So it seems that Lürssen will build the second largest yacht in the world!!!!

Seems quite small for a passengership, so I wonder if Roman has put in an order at Luerssen´s, or who else has that kind of money??? A saudi sheik??

Hi barh100,You have me a little confused. First its a "...150m yacht..." then "...passenger ship.." then "...largest yacht...." Ok what are they building? ps Merry Christmas from down under.

that's great news from barh100. I said in the past that we will exspect a new huge megayacht. Here it is. - By the way, Blohm and Voss build in the past some"passenger or explorer ships". We know them as Katalina, Golden Odyssey and Lady Moura (Blohm&Voss 125 Years of History, Witthöft) !!I think that the Lürssen contract is the Roman A. yacht! It is possible that he build two yachts. The big one from Lürssen and the 92m B&V. Barh said that he believes, Roman would have a smaller luxury yacht.

I'am sorry for my bad english!I wanted to say that most likely the Schichau yard just says that its a casco for a passenger ship because they are not allowed to say that its a Megayacht. I think so because Lürssen doesnt build any passenger ships!

I don't think so because Crystal ball is a HDW project and not a Lurssen project.

The 150m could be very special! I think the client wanted a really special yacht and so several well known shipyards developed a project to compete against other shipyards and in the end the client choose the proposal of Lürssen. The proposals of Blohm&Voss and HDW were Atabeyki and Crystal Ball which are both very special!!! And now B&V and HDW are trying to sell these projects to other clients. So the new 150m yacht by Lürssen could be similar to Atabeyki and Crystal Ball!!I hope everyone understands it!!

Just for the record, This Lurssen project has the name Sunflower and is NOTHING to do with Abromavich at all, he has not signed any deals with Lurssen to date, and in the world of bigger is better Im pretty sure that his brokers would have been crowing about it to the yachting world for months. Lurssen have built cruise/ferry vessels before but these dont normally have project names.... With the number of yacht orders to day more and more yards, Amels and Feadship also, are looking to subcontractors to manufacture hull sections due to lack of space or inadequate facilities. It is often cheaper and more productive.

Yes what's up with ARIEL for instance ? Robert MORAN has been advertising her as being available for charter winter 2004 ! Now, that's outdated news and a website in need of an update... The yacht hasn't even been launched. Or have we missed something ?

One of my best friends told me that he saw Rainbow a few days ago. Unfortunately, he couldn't take photos but he said she's probably the most beautiful yacht he's ever seen. I can't wait to she her launched!

That looks like a splendid yacht! The deck arrangments look great, the main deck aft is huge! The transom staircase is also beautiful. Well proportioned mast. Nice explorer like wheelhouse, blue hull .... yeah, I really like this yacht !!

Its not Abromavich, his managment company has a contract with Blohm and Voss for both build and repair works, I thought that was public knowledge? From the secrecy involved I would guess that this will be another middle eastern royal yacht. To speculate on ownership is a dangerous subject, but with the likes of these oligarchs, they like people to know they have biggest and best and this is just not the case here.I also found out today from a very reliable source inside Lurssen that they are indeed building an approx 80mtr l.o.a all aluminium Sail yacht, codename EOS. How good is that?

She's a design by Espen Oeino, but I came across some designs by Vripack of a slightly smaller yacht, that look very much the same. Has Vripack been involved in the design of Nothern Star?

The sail yacht is not Ellisons project, we know this for sure. And with regard to the 160m Sunflower project, its almost certain that this will be a royal yacht of some description due to the secrecy involved in the project and the similarities to Al Salamah.
