Oceanco Y701 80m yacht | 3:18 AM 10/15/2004 | |
|
This week's MegaYacht.com Newswire has a feature on the Y701 Oceanco 80m designed by "Nuvolari & Lenard and the owner":http://www.megayacht.com/news/...12-03 This must be the largest Oceanco yacht since the Stargate twins and of course the largest all-European construction for Oceanco. The yacht is said to be already underway in Alblasserdam and launch will be two years from now in the fall of 2006. The yacht will have a "helicopter landing area" so I suppose the helicopter will normally not be there when the yacht is underway. It looks a bit precarious to go off-shore with an unprotected rather light helicopter up there. From the rendering one can tell that the Y701 will be a full grown shiplike yacht. However voluminous I yet think the design is quite successful. I would suggest a dark blue hull in order to accentuate the hull silhouette from the bulky superstructure though. What do you think?

she looks great. What a muscolos shiluette. A little bit like octopus from the lines. We are all waiting for more pictures.

If the line drawings are any indication of what the final product will look like I'm very pleased with the design. I've not been overly fond of some of the recent Oceanco launchings; they've been too chopped up for my tastes.

It should be more comfortable to design a yacht with slender and fluent lines at 80mt compared to 60mt. A yacht of 60mt is often just about what is needed in terms of volume and interior/exterior space so unfortunately the design often suffers. The additional 20mt means a bonus that can be equally distributed between additional space and a nicer profile.

beautiful ship; she's got a tiny bit, streamlined though, Octopus about her; the bulk of the height being in front of the middle instead behind it as is usually the case. Ill try to have a closer look( the wharf is 10 minutes from my house)

Are are all the hulls and superstructures for Oceanco yachts built by Kusch at Peters Schiffbau in Wewelsfleth, Germany? Would the hull and superstructure of Y701 already be on site at Oceanco in Alblasserdam?

I thought about the same question. Normally, all hulls and supersrtucutre will be build at Kusch but on Megayacht.com they said that its already under construction in Ablasserdam so I dont know!? But I'am sure that the hull and superstructure of Y701 wasnt build at Kusch so far.

the hull and superstructure will be build in the netherlands; which warf apppeared to be confidential. The delivery of fall 2006 was confirmed by the always friendly people of Oceanco/Alblasserdam jachtbouw

Megayacht.com was right about the Y701 : she's already building at Alblasserdam. Oceanco confirmed this to me during the Monaco Yacht Show; I also had the idea that they would built all of their casco at Kusch. But this seems not to be the case for the Y701.

Maybe Kusch didn't had building space to built the hull of the Y701 as they are building an 130m Heywood yacht.

Amevi launched in October. Here's an excerpt from Oceanco's press release, received today:“Amevi” at 80m (262.48ft), is the first of the new generation of yachts currently in-build at OceAnco that now total a staggering 417.50m. Every one of “Amevi’s” systems, from the LCD gymnasium windows through to the state-of-art Rolls Royce zero speed retractable stabilisers, will be thoroughly tested and trailed under OceAnco’s strict and zero error tolerance procedures over the next months, prior to her delivery well in time for her owner’s summer cruising season.

Yes, I thought from the rendering that Amevi sooner was to have a dark hull. Would perhaps have been to her advantage. Now it looks like she will be all white like Lady Christina and Dilbar. Let's wait and see what she looks like when we get to see some more pictures.

She's all white, allright... At 80m and 2,500 gross tonnage Amevi is a real megayacht! Dilbar is 1,801 GT and Lady Christina just 1,166 GT and they are not exactly midgets. Seems that Amevi will be classified with Lloyd's Register and of UK registry.

And maybe a bit of a stupid question, but what happend to the Amels build AMEVI (2003) because I can hardly imagine 2 yachts with that same name.Cheers, Wim

The Amels Amevi (ex-Georgina) seems to be still around: http://www.yachtspotter.com/ys...70806 There is no problem with two yachts having the same name if they are in two different registries. The Amels Amevi is of CI registry and the Oceanco Amevi of Isle of Man registry.

Amevi is now in Gibraltar, having departed the Isle of Man a few days back. So, presumably we can see her along the Cote D'Azur shortly!
