Good detective work, zippie. If you hadn't found that, it seems I would have been the one to inform you all that ownership and the yacht name have not changed; Lurssen confirmed it for me this morning. In fact, they got a good laugh out of the first photo.

See, i knew something was wrong, i saw suspiscion in how the guy had his hand stuck out covering up the stern of the Carinthia VII as if not to reveal the name.

The first on-board photo I have seen of Carinthia VII can be found here: http://www.vedder.net/ , go to "references" and you will find a pic of an aft deck. Not the interior, but still from an angle we have never seen.

nice pic of Carinthia V, which I have never seen before. Unfortunately thats the only picture of her. It says that Carinthia VI is 75 m. As far as I remember she is "only" 73 m. long

Virgil Jones of the Commonwealth Yacht Club in Grand Rivers, Kentucky, took this photo in Malta on October 17. Here's what he wrote in his e-mail today:I was visiting Malta for the start of the Rolex Middle Sea Race and was standing on the Marina docks in Grand Harbor. At first, I thought it was Octopus, but discovered the profile was not correct.

Nice picture. Old and new, beautiful surroundings. But Octopus and Carinthia VII? The Lürssen look, maybe?

...or the colour of the hull? even the look, Carinthia VII and Octopus = completely different.

I do not see how you could get the two mixed up. Octopus is 100 feet longer than CVII which is significantly longer and plus her overall height is larger. Design wise, they are totally different. CVII is alot curvier and sleekier. Octopus is bulkier. My friends(who are not yacht buff like me) often when they see any blue hulled vessel ask me if it is Bill Gates' yacht of Octopus....oh dear.

Hehe, non-yacht-buffs seem to be aware of the color of a yacht only. My mother came home from a holiday, claiming to have seen an "incredibly large and beautiful yacht". I got interested, of course, and asked her to describe it. "Well, it was large. And white", she replied.

Carithia VII is back in sunny Dubai ! It's been back for more then a week now. Docked in the same spot as last year in Port Rashid. It's not far from yacht Dubai, owned by the ruler of Dubai.

Well, the SL was what I had in mind myself but the name CAROLINA doesn't ring a bell in that respect.

About Lisboa, I believe that the intention was that Camper & Nicholson was to build her, but I don't know if she ever materialized. I think it is a GL Watson design.

yes... the doctor evil movie image... lolbut seriously, now she is touring, what is the concess? the big doctor evil fuel eating monster vs the smaller model mini me.... what of the styling combo mix of Pelorus & CVII.... are your feelings still the same or are we able to separate the styling? my take - many ideas of new yachts get combined into a new plan but i have a distinct problem of lookalike yachts. the best business plan for this ended up known as Limitless [Heywood project mgr]. so, i am confused why this designer did not reach beyond anything already floating to create something new but marketed another version yet to be built. to blame the owner i think is a weak excuse from a designers point. in most instances they only know what is presented to them and they may really like the interior config so they think they are stuck with a lookalike exterior and miss an opportunity of something that has potential to have a whole different look, but not presented as such, because they are contractually bound. ps. thanks christo

New is better, C7 is getting old. The Al mirqab is "2008 money no object" and with proven styling. Beautiful, better & bigger
